Remove the fork brace once its cooled after tack welding, clamp it to the bench and have at it with your welder. After welding, any excess can be trimmed off the fork brace hoops and finished back to look all nice and pretty. This particular brace I had taken a few extra steps to accurately measure, and turn the ends down to a point.
