Is Arrowhead Provincial Park free?
Free day-use permits at 115 provincial parks from Monday to Thursday during summer. Visitors will also be able to guarantee access to 17 select provincial parks, including Arrowhead in Huntville, to avoid long line-ups during popular and busy visitation times by obtaining a daily vehicle permit in advance.
Can you swim at Arrowhead Provincial Park?
Swim on the Arrowhead’s sandy shores, or enjoy the beautiful lake by boat – kayaks and canoes are rented on site. The Day Use Beach is the largest beach, and can be found next to the picnic shelter and washrooms. No lifeguards, water safety is your responsibility.

Arrowhead offers camping in three campgrounds: Roe, East River and Lumby. Roe Campground generally offers the most private, well-drained sites. The beach near this campground is less crowded and offers great access for fishing. East River Campground is great for RVs, especially along Road 10.

Yes, Arrowhead is known for having bears within the park. Camped there 3 times this summer and each time saw a bear. We have seen them on camp sites and we have also seen them while hiking on the trails. We have seen them many times at arrowhead in the past as well.

A portion of the shoreline of Glacial Lake Algonquin is visible in the park. During the winter, a 1.3-kilometre (0.81 mi) man-made skating trail winds through the forest. Other winter activities at the park include cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and tubing.

Arrowhead Provincial Park is located just west of Algonquin Provincial Park and 10 km north of Huntsville. The park is great for summer activities like hiking, and also grooms 22 km of classic ski trails and 11 km of skate ski trails. There is no chalet in the park but it provides two heated shelters, the Mayflower and the Arrowhead shelters.

Arrowhead is a very special park. The sites are huge and well kept. Lots of trails and a great river system for canoeing. The park staff is friendly and conscientious. One of our favorite Ontario parks!
