What is Oncidium Alliance?
The Oncidium/Odontoglossum alliance is becoming very popular both for ease of growing and long lasting sprays of flowers. What is an Intergeneric orchid?
Intergeneric orchids are a result of breeding two or more genera together. They bloom on the mature new growth of the orchid. Most Intergeneric orchids can bloom up to two times a year in a greenhouse environment, however in the home they will typically bloom only once per year.
How long do Miltoniopsis flowers last?

What is the best potting mix for Oncidium orchids?
Water and Potting Mix Coarse bark or osmunda fiber are good potting media. Many Oncidiums prefer a dry rest after flowering; if the leaves drop, you have one of these: provide only enough water to prevent the pseudobulbs from shriveling until it starts actively growing again.
How often do you water Oncidium orchids?

How do you make a hybrid orchid?
The pollen of one parent plant is transferred onto the stigma, using a simple tool such as a cotton bud or toothbrush. When this is done on the same plant, it is called self-pollination. However, when this is done on a different plant, called cross-pollination, the result is a new orchid hybrid.
Can animals of different genus mate?
Intergeneric hybrids result from matings between different genera, such as between sheep and goats. Interfamilial hybrids, such as between chickens and guineafowl or pheasants, are reliably described but extremely rare.
Do Oncidium orchids like to be root bound?
I used fresh orchid bark in the bottom of the pot and to hold these orchids in place. Orchids do not use potting soil. Orchids like to be pot bound, so there isn’t a benefit to increasing the size more than necessary. I tucked the roots down in the orchid bark a little bit to help encourage them to grow in there.
