What is Risperdal tablets used for?
Risperidone is a medication that works in the brain to treat schizophrenia. It is also known as a second generation antipsychotic (SGA) or atypical antipsychotic. Risperidone rebalances dopamine and serotonin to improve thinking, mood, and behavior.
How do you take Risperdal M tabs?
Take this medication by mouth with or without food as directed by your doctor, usually once or twice daily. This medication comes in a blister pack. Do not remove the tablet from the packaging until you are ready to take it. With dry hands, peel back the foil on the blister pack to carefully remove the tablet.
Is risperidone a sleeping pill?
These drugs are known as atypical antipsychotics. They include aripiprazole (Abilify), olanzapine (Zyprexa), quetiapine (Seroquel), risperidone (Risperdal), and others. The drugs often make people drowsy, but there is little evidence that they actually help you fall or stay asleep.

Can you swallow risperidone?
The tablet will quickly dissolve and can be swallowed with or without liquid. Do not chew or crush the tablet. Your doctor will probably start you on a low dose of risperidone and gradually increase your dose to allow your body to adjust to the medication.
Can you dissolve risperidone in water?
Risperidone should be diluted with water or orange juice. When diluted in this way, the product should be used immediately. This liquid should not be mixed with coffee and tea (see section 6 Pharmaceutical Particulars). Risperidone may be given once daily or twice daily.
