Flush it through with warm soapy water, then maybe try making a wad of spare fabric (either piece of an old rag, or shirt), and pushing it through the stem a few times using a straightened coat hanger or something. Repeat. Once in desperation I used tin foil to scrub the stem out and it worked out fine.
