Fear Factor: Matterhorn Bobsleds is more exciting than it is scary. For some reason, the Abominable Snowman scares a lot of children. Warning them in advance can prevent an unwanted fright. Herky-Jerky Factor: This is a fast, jerky ride that is not suitable for anyone with conditions it might aggravate.

Does Matterhorn go backwards?
The train zips in and out of the mountain, and even goes backwards! Expedition Everest first opened in 2006 and was an addition to the Asia section of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park. The attraction was an immediate success and still is one of the most famous thrill rides at Walt Disney World.
Which track is faster on Matterhorn?
One track IS faster. The Matterhorn Bobsleds have two separate tracks. As you approach the entrance to the attraction, you must decide which side you want to ride. According to my stopwatch the right track is approximately 2:30 minutes and the left track is approximately 2:10 minutes, because it is that much faster!
Has anyone died on the Matterhorn ride?
Deaths. There have been two deaths on the Matterhorn Bobsleds. Mark Maples, age 15, was killed on the Matterhorn in May 1964 when he unbuckled his seat belt and tried to stand up as the bobsled approached the peak. He lost his balance, fell onto the track below, and crushed his skull.
Is Matterhorn a wet ride?
You don’t get very wet though. I find the ride rough. The restraint system (unless changed since I last rode) is fairly relaxed. Two people sit per car, one directly in front of the other.
Will Matterhorn reopen?
The iconic Matterhorn Bobsleds ride has been closed in Disneyland since the park closure in March 2020. Disneyland reopened to guests in April 2021 but the Matterhorn remained closed. Today we have exciting news — Matterhorn Bobsleds is open!
