What is a weak hive?
Weak Hive. You learned in Topic 7 that a weak hive has a small population of worker bees flying in and out at the entrance. It will not have very many frames of bees and brood. This may be because: you have recently split this hive and it has not had time to grow yet.
How do you strengthen a weak hive?
Add capped brood. When your colony begins to shrink, they will almost always benefit from a boost in population. If you have a second, healthy colony you can steal a frame of capped brood from them and give it your weak hive. Make sure you find a frame with mostly capped brood (like in the photo below).
