Can Canon 5D use EF-S lenses?
The Canon 5D Mark II will work with pretty much any EF-mount lens ever made, however it is not compatible with the special EF-S lenses designed for cameras with APS-C size sensors. EF-S lenses can’t be used on full-frame Canon cameras, nor on their models with 1.3x crop factors, like the current EOS-1D Mark III.
Do all Canon lenses fit all cameras?
Canon became the first to build the motor that drives the focus inside each lens, rather than using a motor inside the camera body. All EF lenses are compatible with every EOS camera ever produced, including the new EOS M series when used with the EF to EOS M Mount adapter.

Which is better EF or EF-S?
Canon EF lenses are designed to work with full frame and APS-C DSLRs from Canon. Canon EF-S lenses have a smaller image circle that is only big enough to cover the smaller sensor found on Canon APS-C cameras. Because EF lenses have a larger image circle, they will cover full frame sensors and APS-C sensors.
Can you use EF-S lenses on EOS R?
EF-S lenses are designed for APS-C sensor EOS DSLRs, but they can also be used on EOS R System cameras via adapter. The camera will automatically produce cropped images that match the smaller image circle of EF-S optics.
Can you put any lens on any camera?
You can use any type of camera lens to a camera body—given they are of the same brand. A Nikon camera will be compatible only with a Nikon camera lens—regardless if it is macro, fisheye, or standard lens. In the same way, a Canon lens will only be compatible with a Canon camera body.
Do RF lenses work on 5D Mark IV?
While the 5D Mark IV certainly has the best sensor made by Canon, it still lags behind the ones from Sony and Nikon. IBIS (In-Body Image Stabilization) is missing, which makes sense because two of the four RF lenses are fitted with Image Stabilization (Canon RF 35mm f/1.8 IS STM Macro and the RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM).
