Miliaria is a common disorder of the eccrine sweat glands that often occurs in conditions of increased heat and humidity. How is miliaria diagnosed? Miliaria is diagnosed on its typical clinical presentation. In severe cases or repeated episodes, punch biopsy can be useful. Miliaria crystallina shows vesicles associated with the sweat ducts within or just under the stratum corneum of the epidermis.

The lesions in this condition are small, clear, thin-roofed vesicles that develop when the sweat duct is obstructed within the stratum corneum. They occur after sunburn or in response to excessive sweating in high environmental heat and humidity.
